Baddiel and the Missing Nazi Billions
As a companion piece to the BBC1 drama Joe’s Palace by Stephen Poliakoff, I was asked to make a film about the ongoing battle for justice for the billions of dollars-worth of businesses, property and valuables stolen by the Nazis from Jewish victims of the Holocaust. I developed 3 ideas at different price points. I went on to direct and partially self-shoot a road-trip film with David Baddiel that was turned around very quickly. I had to adapt to constantly changing scenarios and respond to David’s reactions at every stage of the journey to ensure delivery of an emotional, challenging and surprisingly funny film.
“A considerate, attentive and, against considerable odds, humorous film. The more I think about it, no – I very rarely see the like” The Guardian.
“Funny, unsentimental, fiercely intelligent” The Times.
